A senior delegation from the Malaysian Red Crescent Society participated in the Southeast Asia National Societies Regional Workshop on International Humanitarian Law and Humanitarian Action in Armed Conflict, held in Singapore from 29 to 31 March 2026. The workshop was co-organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Singapore Red Cross Society.
The MRCS delegation was led by Her Highness Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, National Chairwoman of MRCS, together with Dato’ Danial Iskandar (Secretary General), Encik Khairul Abdul Wahab (Operations Director), Encik Donnie Leong (Head of Health and Community Management Division), and Muhammad Amir Ruzain (Legal Officer overseeing the IHL portfolio).
Sessions covered the legal framework governing armed conflict, the roles of the ICRC and National Societies in strengthening respect for IHL, the protection of persons in armed conflict, and Restoring Family Links. The workshop offered peer exchange with Southeast Asian counterparts and strengthened regional networks for future IHL engagement.
