The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) is seeking a capable and dynamic Assistant Manager – Disaster Management to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives nationwide.

This role involves operational leadership, project management, stakeholder coordination, and supervision of staff and volunteers to ensure effective delivery of disaster management programmes in line with MRCS, IFRC, and national standards.

The Assistant Manager will also support Emergency Appeals, DREF operations, and donor-funded projects, and act as Head of Department in the absence of the Disaster Management Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of disaster management programmes.
  • Support and lead DREF, Emergency Appeals, and other donor-funded projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate staff and volunteers in disaster operations.
  • Facilitate collaboration with government agencies, partners, and Red Cross Red Crescent components.
  • Act as Head of Department in the absence of the Disaster Management Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Project Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business Management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or coordination role preferably within humanitarian, NGO or emergency response environments response.
  • Proven experience in managing multi- disciplinary teams and coordinating field-based operations or community-based projects.
  • MRCS volunteers are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Leads and supervises diverse field teams and volunteers across multiple sectors.
  • Manages standard operating procedures and personnel logistics during emergency deployments.
  • Liaises professionally between internal management, government agencies, and other organization.
  • Monitors project timelines and resources while ensuring compliance with international humanitarian standards.
