National Youth Officer.
The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) / Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia (BSMM) is looking for a passionate, energetic and committed individual to join our team as a National Youth Officer.
The successful candidate will support the engagement, development and empowerment of young volunteers and youth leaders across MRC’s national network. This position plays an important role in strengthening youth participation in humanitarian programmes, leadership initiatives and volunteer activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement initiatives to engage, empower and mobilise young volunteers.
- Support youth leadership development and encourage young people’s active participation in humanitarian activities.
- Coordinate youth programmes, training sessions, workshops, camps and leadership-development activities.
- Develop resources and materials to strengthen the knowledge and skills of young volunteers and youth leaders.
- Ensure that youth perspectives and needs are incorporated into relevant MRC programmes and activities.
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with MRC Chapters, branches, youth leaders and volunteers.
- Support the establishment and development of youth committees and networks at national, chapter and branch levels.
- Build relationships with schools, educational institutions, youth organisations, government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate youth exchanges, networking activities and collaborative programmes at national and international levels.
- Encourage youth participation in community service, disaster response, health promotion and other humanitarian initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate youth programmes, participation levels and programme outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records, databases and documentation relating to youth membership, programmes and activities.
- Prepare programme proposals, activity reports, presentations and supporting documents.
- Support youth communication, advocacy and promotional activities through appropriate platforms.
- Assist in organising MRC events, campaigns, emergency operations and humanitarian activities when required.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Senior Manager, Head of Department or Management.
Academic and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Development, Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, Management, Psychology, Communication or another related field.
- At least one to three years of relevant working experience in youth development, volunteer management, community engagement, programme coordination or a related field.
- Fresh graduates with strong leadership experience and active involvement in youth or volunteer organisations are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with an NGO, humanitarian organisation, youth organisation or volunteer network will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital communication and social media platforms.
