🔎 JOB PURPOSE
The Operation Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, operational management and implementation of activities under the DREF Operation (MDRMY013) in Sabah. The role will work closely with MRC, IFRC surge teams, district teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective humanitarian response operations in accordance with MRC and IFRC operational standards, SOPs and donor requirements.

📝 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and coordinate field operations and implementation activities in line with DREF operational objectives and timelines

• Coordinate closely with NHQ sector leads, IFRC and operational partners to ensure smooth integration of operational support including Disaster Management, Health, Communications, Procurement, Logistics and Finance

• Provide guidance and operational supervision to field teams to ensure quality implementation and compliance with operational standards

• Monitor operational budget utilization and ensure procurement and financial processes comply with MRC and IFRC procedures and regulations

• Act as the main liaison between MRC NHQ, IFRC, MRC Sabah, district teams and other operational stakeholders

• Attend and represent MRC in coordination meetings, field engagements and operational discussions

• Prepare and submit regular operational progress reports, updates and monitoring reports to NHQ and relevant stakeholders

• Ensure all field operations comply with MRC values, Code of Conduct, Sphere Standards, safeguarding and accountability requirements

📌 WORKING CONDITIONS

• Based at NHQ with frequent travel to Sandakan and operational areas in Sabah

• May be required to work beyond normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays based on operational needs

• Must comply with all MRCS field safety and security procedures
