KUALA LUMPUR, 22 February 2025 – The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) is pleased to announce a significant contribution from the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) in support of its ongoing flood relief efforts for communities impacted by the recent Northeast Monsoon floods.
This contribution, comprising one unit of the ROAMFilter Ultra and 100 units of the ROAMFilter Plus 2 valued at more than SGD60,000 (RM200,000) will provide clean and safe drinking water to communities affected by the monsoon floods.
The water filtration systems, designed to remove contaminants and ensure safe consumption have been distributed since 13 February 2025 to seven districts across Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, three of the hardest-hit states where clean water remains a critical necessity.
Additionally, SRC has provided an additional SGD50,000 (RM165,000) in financial aid to strengthen MRC’s ongoing relief operations, ensuring continued support for affected communities.

“We are saddened that the floods in Malaysia have caused massive devastation and a mass displacement of communities across several states. It is heartbreaking what they are going through, and in times of crisis, solidarity is our greatest strength. We support the relief efforts of our colleagues in the Malaysian Red Crescent, with whom we share a close bond and hope our contributions of humanitarian aid and clean water go a long way to positively impact the affected communities and families,” said Mr. Benjamin William, Secretary General of Singapore Red Cross.
Since the onset of the Northeast Monsoon floods in November 2024, MRC has assisted over 30,000 individuals from more than 6,000 households nationwide. Emergency aid includes safe evacuation to temporary relief centres, food distribution, hygiene kits, hot meals, medical assistance and the supply of clean water to affected areas.
In addition to these efforts, MRC’s Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) programme supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has provided financial aid of RM700 per household to over 3,000 families, with an additional RM200 for those with school-going children to support their recovery.
We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from the Singapore Red Cross. This contribution underscores the strength of our regional cooperation and the shared commitment to humanitarian aid under the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Clean water is a vital resource and these filtration systems will play a crucial role in ensuring access to safe water for communities during emergencies.
This latest donation from SRC further strengthens MRC’s capacity to provide effective aid to floodaffected communities in their time of need.
With continued support from international and corporate partners, as well as the public, MRC can expand its efforts and ensure ongoing assistance reaches those who need it most.
