The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) invites qualified, committed, and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Senior Officer – Migration, Displacement & Restoring Family Links (RFL). This role plays a key part in supporting humanitarian efforts related to migration, displacement, and family reunification in Malaysia.
The Senior Officer – Migration, Displacement & RFL provides technical and operational support to MRCS, with a focus on strengthening internal capacity on migration, displacement, and Restoring Family Links (RFL). The role aligns with The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (FRC) and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Global Migration Strategy, Asia Pacific Migration & Displacement Framework for Action, and Red Cross and Red Crescent policies and principles.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Programme Management
- Coordinate and support the implementation of the MRCS Plan of Action on Migration and Displacement
- Strengthen the capacity of MRCS staff and volunteers at headquarters and branch levels
- Support initiatives aimed at protecting migrants, displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups
Monitoring, Analysis & Technical Support
- Monitor and analyse migration and displacement trends in Malaysia
- Contribute to the development of policies, training curricula, and technical tools
- Promote the integration of the Movement’s principles and approaches across MRCS programmes
Coordination, Representation & Partnerships
- Represent MRCS in regional migration networks and relevant external forums
- Strengthen collaboration with IFRC, ICRC, National Societies, and key partners
- Support MRCS engagement in humanitarian diplomacy related to migration and displacement
Restoring Family Links (RFL)
- Coordinate and facilitate RFL cases, including tracing, family reunification, and follow-up
- Manage RFL case records in accordance with confidentiality and data protection standards
- Promote RFL services through outreach, training, and community engagement activities
- Prepare regular reports on RFL activities, caseloads, and outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Social Sciences, Humanitarian Studies, International Relations, or related disciplines)
- Experience in humanitarian work, migration, protection, or RFL is an added advantage
- Strong coordination, communication, and report-writing skills
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic and challenging environment
