Position Overview

The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) invites qualified, dynamic, and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Deputy Secretary General. This senior leadership role is critical in supporting the Secretary General in shaping the strategic direction, strengthening governance, and ensuring the effective delivery of MRCS humanitarian operations at both national and international levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Secretary General to define, implement, and monitor MRC strategic priorities.
• Lead and support the development and execution of strategic plans aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
• Oversee organizational operations to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of humanitarian services.
• Represent MRC at high-level engagements with government agencies, international organizations, and key stakeholders.
• Champion humanitarian principles, disaster risk reduction, and the rights and needs of vulnerable communities.
• Support resource mobilization initiatives, including donor engagement and partnership development.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction to a diverse team of professionals.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, innovation, and accountability across the organization.

Qualifications & Requirements

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Public Health, or other relevant disciplines.

Experience

• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including experience at a mid-to-senior management level, preferably within government-related or key stakeholder environments.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong experience in legal, risk management, and compliance functions.
• Proven ability to develop legal guidelines, internal procedures, policies, and strategic reports.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in overseeing governance and compliance frameworks.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Language Proficiency

• Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
