International Exchange Programme
In 2023-2024, the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) youths actively participated in several international exchange programs aimed at enhancing their leadership skills, cultural understanding, and humanitarian knowledge. These programs included the Japan Red Cross exchange, Jumbara with Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), the Hong Kong Red Cross exchange, the Regional Youth Leadership Academy Asia Pacific 2023 in Nepal, and the Vietnam National Camp (VNRC). These diverse opportunities allowed MRC youths to engage with global Red Cross and Red Crescent initiatives, foster international relationships, and exchange best practices on youth leadership and volunteerism.
As a result of these overseas excursions, MRC teenagers improved their leadership and problem-solving abilities, developed stronger relationships with their international peers, and gained a deeper understanding of global humanitarian issues. Key inputs included participatory workshops, project visits, and cultural interactions that helped them use humanitarian concepts more successfully. To summarize, these programs not only improved the participants’ knowledge and experience, but also empowered them to contribute more effectively to the creation of youth programs inside MRC, reinforcing the Red Cross’s global objective to promote humanitarianism across boundaries.
