Mascot Design Competition
On September 5, 2023, MRC announced its inaugural Mascot Design Competition, receiving over 174 applications across three categories: primary, secondary, and open. The entries were evaluated based on several criteria, including originality and creativity, relevance to MRC’s mission and values, aesthetic appeal and visual impact, versatility for use across different media, and the feasibility of implementation. Alya Binti Mohamad Zamin Nizam was crowned the overall champion of the competition with her mascot design, “Andoh,” which will serve as MRC’s very first official mascot.
Short Video competition in conjunction of the 75th anniversary of MRCS
On October 2023, MRC launched its short video competition in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of MRCS. Over 102 applications were submitted in across 3 categories for the competition.
The MRC Short Video Competition 2023, themed “A Day in My Life as MRC Volunteer,” was organized as part of the Malaysian Red Crescent’s 75th-anniversary celebration to promote volunteerism and humanitarian values among youth. The competition, held from October 20 to December 31, 2023, aimed to engage youth in creating short videos showcasing their experiences as MRC volunteers. Participants were encouraged to use their creativity and storytelling skills to highlight the importance of volunteering and MRC’s contributions to society.
The competition involved participants from various schools and age groups, with judging based on relevance to the theme, creativity, production quality, storytelling, and popularity on social media. The winners received e-wallet credits, MRC merchandise, and certificates of recognition.

- Champion: Ricky Racha Anak Andreas Etong (Sekolah Kebangsaan Nanga Medamit, Sarawak)
- Runner-up: Angeline Chin Mei Zi (SJK(C) Yee Ting, Sarawak)
- Third place: Haiqal As Syahid Bin Hasrul Syafiq (SK Dato’ Syed Zain Alshahab, Johor)

- Champion: Fong Zi Xuan (SMK Chung Ling Butterworth, Pulau Pinang)

Session with Ministry: Townhall- Sesi bual bicara bersama Hannah Yeoh
On August 19, 2023, a Youth Dialogue Session featuring the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, was held to celebrate BSMM’s 75th anniversary. The event aimed to facilitate discussions among youth representatives about sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the roles BSMM youth can play in achieving these goals. Approximately 300 youth representatives, including 160 BSMM members aged 18 to 30, were expected to attend, with participation from various organizations such as the National Youth Committee, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the United Nations. Each BSMM chapter was required to submit a list of 10 active youth members to the National Headquarters by July 25, 2023.
The Youth Town Hall session, held on August 19, 2023, was part of the Malaysian Red Crescent’s (MRC) 75th-anniversary celebration, focusing on engaging youth in the promotion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event featured an interactive discussion between the MRC Youth, the National Chairperson, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh. The session allowed youth participants to share their thoughts on achieving SDGs and explore how MRC Youth can contribute to national development goals. Representatives from various youth organizations, including the IFRC, ICRC, and Scouts, participated in the event, which brought together 300 youth, including 160 MRC members from different chapters.
In addition to the Town Hall, the event included a Youth Carnival with station-based activities covering Red Cross and Red Crescent themes such as International Humanitarian Law, first aid, disaster preparedness, mental health, and climate action. The experiential learning activities, including role-play simulations and demonstrations, aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of humanitarian issues and prepare them for future challenges. The event concluded with discussions on youth involvement in MRC operations, fostering leadership and collaboration among youth leaders.
