
On 12 January 2009, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale has struck Haiti. International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) estimated about 50 thousands people were feared dead and thousands more were missing, injured and separated from their families, lost their home and livelihood, buildings and structures collapsed, telecommunications out of order and no proper shelter, food or clean water supply.
ICRC, IFRC and local Haitian Red Cross were working with local Government Agencies for assessment, rescue, first aid, medical care, food and water, sanitation, shelter and restoring family links.
In restoring family links (RFL), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have open up a website to assist survivors register themselves and also their relatives who are still missing or separated. Public can log on to http://www.familylinks.icrc.org to do so.
