The 'Power of 10 Sen, By Children for Children' campaign has raised RM143,730.10 in donations from children and students in schools nationwide.

The prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said the theme "By Children for Children" was fitting with the overwhelming contributions made by children, especially those in the kindergartens, regardless of race or religion.

"In relation to this, parents need to inculcate good values in their children from an early age and emulate the act of contributing," she said.

She was speaking to reporters after attending the ceremony where contributions for the campaign were handed over by the Malaysian Red Crescent to the Palestine's ambassador to Malaysia, Abdelaziz Aboughosh at University of Malaya's Academy of Islamic Studies, here Wednesday.

Also present at the ceremony was University of Malaya Pro-Chancellor Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong, Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia President Tan Sri Zaleha Ismail and Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) chairman Tunku Tan Sri Shahriman Tunku Sulaiman.

The campaign was organised by the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia and the MRCS in collaboration with the Information Communication and Culture Ministry and University of Malaya from Feb 25 to May 12.

Rosmah said she deeply appreciated donations from children from the kindergartens as well as primary and secondary school students around Malaysia in helping children in Gaza.

The contributions would be channelled to the Palestinian children affected by the armed conflict in their country, said Rosmah.

The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) would add on to the contributions to make it an even total of RM150,000, said Rosmah, who is Bakti president.

"We all have a responsibility to help improve the quality of living for children around the world, and the children in Gaza need our assistance and protection, so we must do what we can no matter what our race or religion," she added.
